Harry A. Wood, III

Harry A. Wood III, of Waco, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 15, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, January 19, at Temple Rodef Sholom with Rabbi Laura Harari officiating.

Harry was born December 23, 1950, in Marlin, Texas to the late Harry Wood Jr. and Maurene Levy Wood. Harry was self-employed and worked in the insurance business for the last 25 years. He was an active member of Temple Rodef Sholom in Waco, where he served as president for two terms and as a board member.

Harry served his community in many ways; most near to his heart was his work with Friends of Bill W, where he had 21 years (and was a long-time, intergral part of the Heart of Texas Confernece), and Meals on Wheels. He found so much joy in serving others and was able to touch so many lives. He had a contagious smile that lit up every room and sense of humor that brightened the lives of everyone he knew.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy; his children, Brandon and wife, Erica, Stanton, Adam, and Lauren; his sister, Sara Wood-Levy and husband, Ira Levy; grandchildren, Stanton Jr., Savannah, Peyton, Ashley, Brandon, and Colton.
